If you knew me at all, you would understand that I do not take pictures of butterflies. But, I was bored. Really bored…sitting in the woods waiting for some doves to fly by. While I was sitting there I noticed some amazing flowers that were loaded with butterflies. At times it seemed like the butterflies were competing with the bees for flowers. I snapped the shots, but they don’t really completely capture the beauty.

This is an amazing creation designed by an amazing God. After a little research I learned that this is a clouded yellow butterfly. This beauty comes from a common cabbage worm that is considered a nuisance. I am watching something that used to be a nuisance. What a transformation!

I can’t help but think of the transformation every one of us needs. Sometimes we are not much more than a nuisance. For that transformation to happen it takes a willingness to go through a dark time.  Most of us like the result but resist the darkness. I wrote a book that we will be using in a couple of weeks called “The Adventurous Journey”. The best stories in the book come from dark times. The best story from our life is when God transforms our darkness into something beautiful.

Your story may be already transformed, but a little warning to all of us: Don’t be afraid of the Dark. It is in those moments God transforms us.
